President M Abdul Hamid today asked Dhaka University (DU) authorities to take necessary measures to uphold its image and dignity apart from ensuring its overall academic environment.
"Abide by the rules and regulations at all levels in running the university," the President said while the newly appointed DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman called on him at Bangabhaban here today.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Abdul Hamid termed Dhaka University as the country's highest seat of learning with academic excellence and directed the DU authorities to give special emphasis on its environment.
He stressed the need for taking an integrated initiative to maintain the customs and dignity of the university.
The DU VC apprised the President of overall activities of the university and sought cooperation in discharging his duty.
